SLIPPERY ROCK Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team dropped a 64-48 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division decision to Indiana University (Pa.) Wednesday at Morrow Field House.

The Rock see their overall record slump to 7-11, now 4-8 within the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks, who entered the week receiving votes in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association national poll, improve to 14-3 on the year and 9-2 within the PSAC.

Endya Robinson became the eighth different leading scorer for Slippery Rock this year with a season-high 11 points.
Mairan Haggerty tallied nine points and three rebounds off the bench with
Sophia Hook adding eight points, five rebounds and two steals herself.

Brooklyn Jones was helpful to SRU all around the court with seven points, six rebounds and six of the team's 12 assists.
Regan Atkins totaled six points, four rebounds and four assists, as
Alyssa Gillin racked up five points.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard parlayed a team-best seven rebounds with two points, two blocks, two steals and two assists.
Rebecca Goetz pulled down two rebounds for The Rock as well, one at each end of the court.

Slippery Rock was the first on the board thanks to a 3-pointer hit by Jones. SRU continued to pressure offensively early, earning a 10-5 lead 3:54 into the game as Gillin sunk another triple for The Rock.

That kicked the Crimson Hawks into gear, who proceeded to hold SRU scoreless for the final 6:06 of the first quarter and go on a 14-0 run to head into the second with a 19-10 advantage. Gillin put SRU back in the scoring column 1:38 into the second to stop what had become a 20-0 stint for Indiana.

SRU kept pace with the Crimson Hawks for much of the second and outscored IUP 6-3 through the final two minutes to cut the deficit to 32-20 by halftime.

Haggerty (seven points) and Robinson (five points) were Slippery Rock's only scorers in the third quarter until Jones made a pair of layups in the final 1:24. SRU was once again able to keep up with IUP, being outscored just 19-16. The Crimson Hawks maintained their lead by shooting 47.1 percent overall (8-of-17) and entered the fourth quarter up 51-36.

The Rock began the fourth period on a 7-2 run, a sprint highlighted by a Joseph-Bernard steal that turned into a Hook layup. Hook increased SRU's run to 10-4 by drilling a quick 3-pointer at the 6:51 mark to bring The Rock within single-digits of IUP for the first time since the first quarter.

The Crimson Hawks put SRU's upset threats to rest by slowing things down late with a 9-0 run while holding The Rock from another bucket for 6:08 to piece together their 16-point win.

Slippery Rock concluded the night shooting 35.1 percent (20-of-57) in total and 23.8 percent from the 3-point arc (5-of-21). SRU's trips to the foul line came at a premium, making 60 percent (3-of-5). The Rock were outrebounded, 46-36 (-10) and lost the turnover battle, 12-8 (-4).

IUP shot 38.5 percent (25-of-65) overall and 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from 3-point distance. The Crimson Hawks went 71.4 percent (10-of-14) at the charity stripe. Shamia Strayhorn was Indiana's top scorer with 16 points, while Nyshae' Weaver double-doubled on 10 points and a game-leading 13 rebounds.

Slippery Rock will enjoy one of its bye weekends away from competition and next return to the court 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29 to host Edinboro in its annual Bobby McGraw Memorial Game.
