CLARION, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team suffered a 92-72 road loss at Clarion after the Golden Eagles totaled 61 points and shot 56.1 percent through the second half to overcome a 12-point halftime deficit Saturday on the road.

The Rock fall to 7-10 overall and 4-7 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition, while the Golden Eagles improve to 12-6 on the year and 6-5 within the PSAC.

Sophia Hook and
Brooklyn Jones were Slippery Rock's leading scorers with 14 points apiece. Hook sunk a team-high three 3-pointers while collecting three rebounds, a steal and an assist. Jones garnered five rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Regan Atkins posted a well-rounded day for The Rock with 13 points, seven rebounds, a team-high six assists, three steals and two blocks.
Deryn Moye logged a season-best 11 points on top of two rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Kayley Joseph-Bernard tallied an SRU-best eight rebounds along with six points, three assists and three blocks.

Slippery Rock was propelled early from 12 points from Hook in the first quarter. Hook went 3-for-3 at both the 3-point arc and the foul line through the opening 10 minutes to help give The Rock a 20-11 lead heading into the second.

The Rock continued to pace play in the second quarter, shooting 60 percent (9-of-15) from the floor. Both Jones and Robinson converted and-1 opportunities for SRU as Atkins came alive with a nine-point showing.

SRU held a 43-31 lead at halftime after shooting 53.3 percent (16-of-30) overall while holding the Golden Eagles to 26.7 percent from the floor (26.7 percent).

The tides turned dramatically in a third quarter of play that began with a 25-4 run from the Golden Eagles. Clarion outscored Slippery Rock through the entirety of the third quarter, 30-9, taking a lead at the 5:30 mark and never looking back. A late 3-pointer from Gillin aided The Rock in keeping it close, going into the fourth quarter down 61-52.

A 5-0 run from Moye shrunk the margin down to seven points with 7:56 left in the game, but consistent 3-point shooting parlayed with a successful press up against an SRU team that crept into foul trouble slowly but surely increased Clarion's lead. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 23 points late in the game, cruising through the second half to a 20-point win.

Slippery Rock shot 41.7 percent through the contest (25-of-60), going 9-of-23 (39.1 percent) from the 3-point arc and 13-of-18 (72.2 percent) at the foul line. SRU was outrebounded, 44-40 and lost the turnover battle, 22-11.

It was a tale of two halves for Clarion offensively, shooting under 27 percent in the first half and shooting better than 56 percent in the second.

Overall, the Golden Eagles made 31-of-71 field goal attempts (43.7 percent) including 10-of-22 3-pointers (45.5 percent). Clarion also shot 20-of-28 (71.4 percent) at the free throw line. Alyssa Terza came off the bench to lead Clarion's five double-digit scorers with 20 points, while Malayzia Etheredge reeled in a team-leading eight rebounds.
