SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team trailed Indiana University (Pa.) by single digits through three quarters but dropped the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division matchup, 57-42, Saturday at Morrow Field House.

The loss pushes The Rock to 2-21 on the season and 2-18 in the conference. The Crimson Hawks escaped with their fifth straight win, improving to 20-5 overall and 16-4 through PSAC play.

Deryn Moye led Slippery Rock with 13 points, now combining for 27 over her last two outings. The Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania native also guided SRU with a team-high four steals and three assists.

Regan Atkins put together her second straight double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds, the third of her career. By playing 38 minutes in the game, Atkins became the all-time leader in minutes played by a freshman in Slippery Rock history.Â

Coming off a career-high seven points at Clarion,
Hallie Raabe broke her own record again with eight points, including the second 3-pointer of her time at SRU.
Endya Robinson posted six points while bringing down nine rebounds and a block.

Slippery Rock hung with the fourth-ranked scoring offense early by leading five different times in the first quarter, but by no more than two points in each occurrence. Robinson gave The Rock four of their first six points of the game with Moye and Raabe adding to the first quarter total.

The Rock impressed throughout the contest, finding themselves down 17-14 after the first quarter and just 31-27 at halftime.

Points from
Kristina Donza cut the deficit to just 33-32 2:41 into the second half, but a 10-3 run to end the third quarter allowed IUP to pull away to its eventual 15-point victory.

The Crimson Hawks made 23-of-54 (.426) total shots from the field over SRU's 14-of-50 (.280) effort from the floor. Slippery Rock did, however, hold a narrow advantage over IUP from distance, going 5-of-16 (.313) from 3-point range as opposed to Indiana's 3-of-10 (.300).

Slippery Rock also fared well at the foul line, going 9-of-12 (.750). Atkins, Moye and Raabe all contributed 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. As a team, the Crimson Hawks made 50 percent (8-of-16) of their free throws and outrebounded SRU, 40-31.

The Rock will play their final game inside Morrow Field House in the 2023-24 season 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in a clash with the Fighting Scots of Edinboro. Slippery Rock will be honoring former head coach Bobby McGraw in its annual memorial game.
