SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover game to Millersville University, 72-52, Saturday at Morrow Field House.

Following the loss, Slippery Rock exits the weekend with a 2-4 overall record and an 0-2 mark inside the PSAC while the Marauders improve to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in league games.

A slow-starting second half once again proved costly for SRU Saturday.

Slippery Rock cut its seven-point (33-26) halftime deficit down to five points one minute into the second half before Millersville proceeded to go on a decisive 14-1 run over the following five minutes to open up an 18-point edge at 49-31 with 14 minutes left in regulation.

The Marauders went on to stretch their lead out to as many as 27 points before settling for the 72-52 victory.

Maceo Austin and
Jomo Goings accounted for nearly half of The Rock's points with Austin tallying 14 and Goings posting 11 off the bench. The duo shot 11-of-22 from the field overall. Goings also collected a career-high six steals while Austin pulled down four rebounds.

Sheick Samoura finished just shy of a double-double with a nine-point, eight-rebound, two-steal showing off the bench.
Bobby Clifford scored five points and
Mack Staunch had two steals and grabbed four rebounds off the bench as well.

Rounding out The Rock's leaders Saturday was
O'Meech Wilson (six points, four rebounds, one block) and
Ike Herster (four points, five rebounds, two steals).

Collectively, Slippery Rock ended the night shooting 35.6 percent (21-of-59) from the field overall, 11.8 percent (2-of-17) from distance and 66.7 percent (8-of-12) at the foul line. 26 turnovers – SRU's most since a Feb. 8, 2020 loss to Indiana (Pa.) - also proved costly with the Marauders turning the miscues into 26 points.

The Rock did hold +2 rebounding margin (38-36) over Millersville including a season-high matching 15 offensive rebounds that were turned into a 15 second chance points.

Behind a strong second half in which it converted 16-of-28 field goals, Millersville closed the contest shooting 45.2 percent (28-of-62) from the field overall despite going just 2-of-14 from distance. MU also connected on 14-of-18 (.778) free throws.

Drew Stover led the Marauders with a 26-point, eight-rebound, four-steal showing. He was 13-for-18 over 29 minutes.

Slippery Rock steps back out of PSAC play when it hits the road for a non-conference game 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at Lake Erie College before returning home for a post-Thanksgiving game 3 p.m. Nov. 30 vs. USC Beaufort.
