HIGH PROFILE HURD
Hurd's standout all-around abilities have been recognized throughout the country as she was recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's 2023 Tucci/NFCA Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year watchlist.

Hurd is one of just three players to make the list from the PSAC West. In 26 starts in the batting order this year, Hurd has hit .471 (41-of-87) with 19 runs scored, four home runs, 35 RBI and 11 doubles.

A second baseman when serving as a position player, Hurd also sports a .505 on-base percentage and .736 slugging percentage to go with four stolen bases.

Hurd has been at her best for SRU in marquee situations as she bats .676 (23-for-34) with runners in scoring position.

Hurd has also made eight pitching appearances in the circle for SRU, where she has a 3-2 record to go along with a 3.69 ERA over 36 innings pitched. She is second on the pitching staff in strikeouts with 37 and has earned one complete-game one-hit victory this season. Opponents are hitting just .209 off Hurd in 2023.

NOW BATTING
Joining Hurd as players to pace The Rock offense are Gardner, Arielle Brown, Cami Fisk, Aubrey Mansfield and Julia Montie.

Brown, a shortstop, has been vital to Slippery Rock success at reaching base this season. In addition to stealing 14 bases, SRU's leadoff hitter ranks third on the team in on-base percentage at .446.

Additionally, Brown bats .282 with a team-high 28 runs scored and six RBI as one of just three Rock players to start all 26 games.

Fisk, a veteran first baseman in the SRU lineup, enters Monday's contests with a .268 batting average, eight runs scored, 13 RBI, five doubles and one home run.

Gardner assists from the batter's box with an average of .269 to go along with 13 runs and six RBI while splitting time at third base with Mansfield, a freshman, who continues to help pace the Slippery Rock offense early in her career by batting .297 with 10 runs scored, 12 RBI and five doubles.

Montie rounds out the regulars with a batting average of .266 in addition to having eight runs, six RBI, one home run, a pair of doubles and the roster's only triple this season. Defensively, she is tied with Regan Hozak for the team-lead in outfield assists so far in 2023 at two apiece.

IN THE CIRCLE
Leading the way for SRU's pitching staff is Kelsi Anderson who in a rotation-high 71.1 innings pitched has struck out 86 batters and allowed opponents to hit just .202 off her on the way to a 2.75 ERA and 8-3 record.

One of the most talented two-way athletes in the PSAC, Hurd (3-2, 3.69 ERA) has made eight pitching appearances in the circle for SRU, over 36 innings pitched. She is second on the pitching staff in strikeouts with 37 and has earned one complete-game one-hit victory this season. Opponents are hitting just .209 off Hurd in 2023.

Chloe Sharman (0-3, 5 saves, 3.85 ERA) has pitched 23.2 innings with 11 relief appearances in the circle and has registered 15 strikeouts.

Claire Zimmerman (0-6, 7.09 ERA) rounds out Slippery Rock's pitchers to have seen at least 20 innings of work with 24.2 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts.

STREAKING
Hurd is currently on a 13-game hitting streak for The Rock which is tied for the fifth longest at SRU dating back to 2008. Emily Nagle holds the program record for longest hitting streak (17 games in 2017).

SWINGING FOR THE FENCES
Kennedy has six hits over the last five games for (.400 / 6-15) Slippery Rock while Mackenzie Freeman has hit safely in four of her last six games played.

AMONG THE NATIONS LEADERS
Sharman continues to show her strength as a relief pitcher in the circle for SRU. Sharman not only has set the program record for career saves with nine but as also set The Rock's single-season record for saves with five already this year.

For her efforts, Sharman is currently third in all Division II in saves during the 2023 season.

ANDERSON CLOSING IN ON STRIKEOUT RECORD
Anderson passed Brooke Dawson (2015-18) for second place on SRU's career strikeout list following a six-strikeout performance against Mercyhurst.

Entering Monday's contests with 331 strikeouts, Anderson is now just five strikeouts away from becoming The Rock's career strikeout leader – the record currently belongs to former Rock great Shaylee Ianno (2009-12), who struck out 335 batters at SRU.
