WILMINGTON, Del. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team ran its winning streak to six matches with a 6-1 victory on the road at Goldey-Beacom College Saturday at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

The victory improves The Rock to 12-6 overall and 12-4 against Division II competition and tacks on one more win in a streak that began April 2 against West Virginia State. SRU has now won seven of its last eight matches and has not lost since April 1 against 20th ranked Charleston. The six straight wins is the third longest streak for SRU in the last 13 years. Goldey-Beacom slips to 5-11 overall with the loss.

Slippery Rock kicked off the match Saturday with a sweep of the doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 lead.

The Rock then took straight-set victories at each of the top five singles positions to comfortably cruise to the win.

The highlight of the day came from No. 2 singles and doubles player and senior captain
Gabriela del Val del Toro, who picked up two more wins to bring her career total to 98 wins at SRU. She can become the 14th player in program history to reach 100 career wins when SRU travels to Jefferson in Philadelphia Sunday.

Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez and
Teddi Isherwood posted a 6-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position, taking down Maria Bruno and Zehre Canbaz after dropping just one game.

SRU took the No. 2 doubles match with the Spanish duo of del Val del Toro and
Nuria Martin Lopez posting a 6-2 win over Elizabeth Mova and Nahomi Quinonez and then completed the sweep of the doubles with
Dari Sakhanova and
Tina Slovak earning a 6-3 win over Macy Hendin-Walker and Alex Kepa at the No. 3 position.

Gonzalez Sanchez picked up a win at the No. 1 singles position with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Mova. Â

The No. 2 singles win for del Val del Toro marked her eighth straight singles win dating back to March 28. She took down Canbaz 6-2, 6-3 to pick up her 98th career victory.

Sakhanova earned a 6-2, 7-5 win over Bruno at the No. 3 position

Martin Lopez won her eighth straight singles match at the No. 4 position when she posted a 6-3, 7-5 win over Hendin-Walker.

Slippery Rock picked up its final point at the No. 5 spot when Slovak took down Quinonez 6-1, 6-0, dropping just one game on the way to the win. It marked her fifth singles win in her last six matches.

The Lightning picked up their lone point at the No. 6 position, where Kepa defeated
Georgie Lancaster 6-3, 6-3.

Slippery Rock will look to extend its winning streak to seven straight matches with a noon match Sunday at Jefferson University's Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts in Philadelphia.
