JOPLIN, Mo. – Joseph Cintavey and Ethan Brentham from the Slippery Rock University men's cross country team will represent The Rock Saturday at the NCAA Division II National Championships hosted by Missouri Southern State University at the Tom Rutledge XC Course in Joplin, Missouri.

FIELD MAKEUP
The National Championships field for men's XC includes 34 complete teams of seven runners and 28 individual qualifiers from across the country for a total of 266 runners that will compete in the 10,000-meter race. View the complete field HERE.

• The top 40 finishers in each race are declared All-Americans by the USTFCCCA.

SRU ENTRIES
Both of Slippery Rock's entries, Ethan Brentham and Joseph Cintavey, will be making their debut appearance at a national meet.
 
SRU NOTES
• This marks the first time since 2008 that Slippery Rock will send two men to compete as individuals at nationals. The last duo to accomplish that were Rock Athletics Hall of Fame inductees Jeff Weiss and Pat Reagan.
 
• Slippery Rock has not had any men compete at nationals since Jeremy Parsons qualified three years in a row from 2015-17.
 
• Cintavey qualified automatically after placing seventh at the Atlantic Region Championships and being the first individual finisher not on one of the qualifying teams. Brentham was the first finisher outside the automatic qualifying spots, but was added as an at-large selection by the NCAA two days after the meet when the NCAA added additional individuals based on overall strength of each regional field. Brentham was the only additional male from the Atlantic Region to be accepted.
 
• Slippery Rock has not had a male All-American in cross country since 2015 when Jeremy Parsons finished 24th in his debut at nationals.
 
• Cintavey and Brentham both earned first team All-PSAC honors and All-Region honors already this year. Brentham was third overall at the PSAC Championships and took 10th at the regional meet, while Cintavey was sixth at the PSAC meet and seventh at the regional meet.
