With the loss, SRU's record moves to 1-2-5 overall and 0-2-4 in the conference while the Mountain Cats improve to 3-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the PSAC West.

SRU tested Mountain Cat goalkeeper Sachi Negri over the opening 26 minutes by scattering four corners and seven shots, off the feet of Dermotta, Kosek, Rea and Sarver, but found no luck.

UPJ followed the Slippery Rock surge with an attack of its own, as Morgan Kost received a cross pass from Emily Esser, to give Pitt-Johnstown a one-goal advantage 29 minutes into the first half.

The Rock answered less than three minutes later with the equalizer, when Sarver collected the ball and skillfully maneuvered around a Mountain Cat defender before landing a shot past Negri to knot the score 1-1

Pitt-Johnstown answered its initial score with an insurance goal in the 40th minute of the first half courtesy of a pass from Emma Bennethum to Haley Neidig, giving UPJ a one-goal lead once more heading into halftime.

After the break, The Rock dominated the offensive end controlling most of the possession time as well as taking 14 shots, six of which were on target, as well as 12 corners, forcing Negri to make six saves, compared to Pitt-Johnstown's four shots through the entirety of the second half.

However, Slippery Rock was unable to find an equalizer, ending the match in a 2-1 UPJ decision.

For the game, SRU held advantages in total shots (23-9), shots on goal (11-6) and corners (18-4).
