SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team had its three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday with a 3-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference loss to No. 3 East Stroudsburg University at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Slippery Rock falls to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC with the loss while the nationally ranked Warriors improve to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference following the win.

Facing near constant pressure for the entirety of the game, Rock goalkeeper
Grace Burker performed admirably, making 13 saves against an ESU squad that came into the game ranked as one of the top offensive teams in Division II. The 13 saves marked a career-high for SRU's sophomore goalie.

Erin Roland led The Rock's offense by scoring her third goal of the season on a
Nadia Irving assist. Roland has now scored a goal in each of SRU's last three games while Irving's assist served as her first point of the year.

Roland concluded the day with a team-best three shots.
Gianna Conti also registered a pair of attempts, one of which was on goal with
Bailee Christman and
Samantha Karmonick also tallying attempts as well to round out Slippery Rock's offensive leaders.

East Stroudsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Allyson Forman in the seventh minute and Nicole Krozser at 18:36. The Warriors added their final goal of the day seven minutes into the second half when Forman set up Julia Meijs for the third-quarter goal.

Slippery Rock avoided the shutout when Roland beat ESU backup goalie Emma Valinote on Iriving's assist at 47:57. Roland also took a final shot with three minutes to play in regulation, but the attempt went wide as East Stroudsburg closed out the two-goal win.

For the game, East Stroudsburg held advantages over Slippery Rock in total shots (25-7), shots on goal (16-3) and corners (10-4).

Slippery Rock steps back out of PSAC competition when it makes the long trip to Missouri for two games at Sept. 24 at Lindenwood University and Sept. 25 at Maryville University. Both games are schedule for 11 a.m. starts.
