LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Slippery Rock University baseball senior catcher
Connor Hamilton was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Monday's announcement marks the third time Hamilton has earned the weekly award over his career. Hamilton earned the latest recognition after a great five-game week in which he helped The Rock earn their first PSAC Tournament berth since 2018.

Over five games, Hamilton hit .500 (9-18) with five runs, three home runs and 10 RBI while slugging 1.111 with a .550 on-base percentage.

Hamilton had multi-hit games in four of The Rock's five games. He hit one home run and had four RBI in SRU's 12-10 victory over Mercyhurst in game one of the four-game series before driving in two more runs in game four.

Arguably the top athlete in the PSAC this season, Hamilton has started all 46 games for nationally ranked Slippery Rock, which entered the week as the No. 21 team in the nation. On the year, Hamilton is batting .419 with 53 runs scored, 16 home runs, 50 RBI to go with a .818 slugging percentage and a .527 on-base percentage.

Across the conference, Hamilton ranks second in the PSAC in both on-base percentage and OPS (1.345) while sitting third in slugging percentage, fourth in home runs, fourth in batting average, fourth in runs, fifth in walks (33) seventh in RBI and seventh in hits.

For his career, Hamilton ranks ninth in program history in career home runs with 23. His 16 homers this year are tied for the most in single-season SRU history.

Slippery Rock finished the regular season with an overall record of 32-14 and a PSAC West mark of 17-11.

SRU will enter the PSAC Tournament out of the Western Division and play Shippensburg University, the third seed from the Eastern Division, 9:30 a.m. on day one of the PSAC Tournament at Critchfield Park. Â
