SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team matched a program record for single-game scoring in a dominant 26-1 victory Tuesday evening over Edinboro University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and were never really challenged on the way to improving to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in PSAC West games. Edinboro slips to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in PSAC action.

The 26 goals scored by SRU tied for the most ever recorded in a single-game in program history, matching the 1984 team that scored 26 against Oberlin. It is the most goals scored by SRU since the program was reinstated as an NCAA sport in 2007, topping the number of 25 that SRU reached twice in 2011 (against Lake Erie and Converse).

Slippery Rock fired 23 shots in the first quarter and finished the game with advantages of 51-2 in total shots, 23-7 in draw controls and 24-9 in ground balls. The Rock were 8-of-9 on clear attempts and turned the ball over nine times on offense, while limiting Edinboro to just 5-of-17 on clear attempts and a total of 24 turnovers.

SRU got multiple points from 10 different players and at least one point from 13 different players in the game.
Emily Benham and
Camryn Whipple led the way with six points each with Benham scoring three goals and handing out three assists in limited minutes and Whipple netting two goals and handing out a team-high four assists.

Katie Dlugosz scored a game-high five goals and
Charleigh Rondeau added two goals and three assists, along with nine draw controls.
Rachel Mahoney chipped in two goals, two assists and eight draw controls and
Brooke Kelly scored one goal and handed out three assists.
Eryn Little added a hat trick,
Jamie DiCarlo scored two goals and had one assist and
Molly Buettner and
Brooke Wisniewski each tallied two goals to cap the multiple-point scorers.

Victoria Ziemba and
Lauren Searles each scored one goal and
Krysta Frankowski had one assist to round out the scorers.

Taylor Baiers tallied two caused turnovers in limited minutes to lead the defense, which saw nine different players record at least one caused turnover.

Gillian O'Rourke played the first 30 minutes in goal and allowed the lone goal of the game for Edinboro on a free position shot.
Izzie Sutton played the final 30 minutes and faced just one shot, which was not on goal.

The Fighting Scots goal came from Sophia Bernardoni. Kaitlyn Binotto was under fire all day in goal and made 15 total saves in the game.

Slippery Rock improved to 4-0 this spring in home games with the victory, but will now hit the road for four straight games. The Rock will visit Millersville Saturday for a 1 p.m. non-conference game to kick off that stretch on the road.
