SLIPPERY ROCK Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division leader Seton Hill University, 60-45, Monday night at Morrow Field House.

The loss moves The Rock's record to an even 10-10 overall and 5-9 in the conference while Seton Hill improves to 19-7 overall and 14-4 in the PSAC West. Â

The Rock's efforts were led by
Jamiyah Johnson with 11 points and 13 rebounds for her NCAA-best 18th double-double of the season. Johnson went 4-for-8 from the field overall and 3-of-5 at the foul line.

Rounding out the leaders for SRU were
Deleah Gibson (8 points, 2 rebounds),
Anyah Curd (7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block),
Daeja Quick (6 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal),
Bella Long (6 points, 1 rebound) and
Kennedy Middleton (5 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block). Long went 2-for-3 from 3-point range.

Seton Hill jumped out to an early 13-4 lead in the first quarter that The Rock combated with an 8-3 run to close the period trailing by just four points (16-12). SHU maintained control into the second, outscoring Slippery Rock 17-11 to extend to a 10-point advantage (33-23) at the halftime break.

Slippery Rock and Seton Hill traded baskets for the duration of the third quarter as the Griffins protected their 10-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter ahead 46-36.

SRU started the fourth quarter on a 6-3 run trimming the margin to seven, its smallest deficit since the opening minutes of the contest. However, Seton Hill went on to hold The Rock to just three more points for the duration of the contest to seal the 60-45 victory.

As a team, Slippery Rock shot 27 percent (17-of-63) overall, 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from 3-point range and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from the charity stripe. The Rock forced SHU into 12 turnovers while making 11 miscues of their own.

The Griffins ended the night shooting 36.8 percent (21-of-57) from the floor, 30 percent (6-of-20) from long range and 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the foul line. Seton Hill outrebounded Slippery Rock 46-40 while holding advantages in points in the paint (30-20), second chance points (14-7) and points off turnovers (12-11).

The Rock opens a three-game PSAC West road trip at Pitt-Johnstown 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Slippery Rock defeated the Mountain Cats, 66-52, earlier in the season.
