SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team suffered a 73-47 loss to Gannon University Saturday at Morrow Field House.

With the loss The Rock's record moves to 11-14 overall and 6-13 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division while Gannon improves to 21-5 overall and 16-5 in the conference.

SRU was led by the senior duo of
Jamiyah Johnson with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals and
Daeja Quick who tallied 12 points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist. Quick, with her 12 points, eclipsed the 800-career point mark making her just the fourth player in program history to record 800 points, 250 assists, 250 rebounds and 100 steals in a career. Â

Rounding out the leaders for The Rock were
Anyah Curd with eight points, seven rebounds and one steal and
Kennedy Middleton who ended the contest with seven points, two assists, one rebound and one steal.

Slippery Rock traded baskets with Gannon through the opening quarter of the contest leading to a three-point Rock deficit going into the second. SRU tied the score with Gannon twice in the first four minutes of the second quarter - once via a made 3-pointer by Middleton and the second a made layup by Curd. However, the Golden Knights ended the quarter on a 14-3 run to take a 33-23 lead heading into halftime.

The Rock were unable to re-group through the remaining two quarters as Gannon outscored SRU 25-9 in the third, taking a 58-32 advantage into the fourth where the Golden Knights would extend their advantage to as many as a 29-points en route to a 73-47 Gannon victory.

Slippery Rock concluded the contest shooting 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the floor, 19 percent (4-of-21) from long range and 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from the foul line. Despite the loss, The Rock forced Gannon into 19 turnovers while making 15 miscues of their own. SRU has now prompted nine steals in its each of its last four games.

As a team, the Golden Knights shot 60.4 percent (28-of-48) overall, 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from 3-point range and 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from the charity stripe. Gannon out rebounded SRU 36-25 in addition to holding advantages in points in the paint (34-24), points off turnovers (20-13) and fast break points (14-5).

Slippery Rock begins the final week of the regular season 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21 on the road at California University (Pa.). SRU and the Vulcans met earlier this year resulting in a 66-45 Cal U win at Morrow Field House.
