SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game to No. 3 Kutztown University, 3-0, Sunday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The conference loss drops The Rock's record to 7-9 overall and 1-7 inside the PSAC while the nationally ranked Golden Bears improve to 16-2 overall and 8-1 in league competition. Sunday's game marked the seventh contest of the season for SRU against a team ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Top-10.

Goalkeeper
Grace Burker had a solid game for The Rock, stopping 13 of Kutztown's 16 shots on goal on the day for her fifth double-digit save performance of the season. With one game remaining in the 2022 season, Burker has made 126 saves which ranks eighth all-time in program single-season history.

Samantha Karmonick was responsible for The Rock's lone shot of the day as she narrowly missed a goal on a deflection attempt.

Erin Gonzalez scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal for Kutztown two minutes into the first quarter on a Juliana Donato assist followed seven minutes later by a Rachel Dusman goal.

KU carried the two-goal lead into halftime before the combination of Gonzalez and Donato once again converted a scoring opportunity, giving Kutztown a 3-0 lead it would never relinquish.

For the game, the Golden Bears held advantages over The Rock in total shots (18-1), shots on goal (16-0) and penalty corners (15-2).

Prior to the game, Slippery Rock honored its 2022 senior class of
Addy Ross and
Kayla Del Vecchio for their contributions to the program over their careers.

The Rock will play their final game of the year on the road 12 p.m. Nov. 12 at Bloomsburg University.
