SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game to No. 10 Indiana University (Pa.), 3-0, Wednesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The loss drops The Rock's record to 7-8 on the season overall and 1-6 in league competition while the nationally ranked Crimson Hawks improve to 9-6 overall and 3-4 inside the PSAC.

Sammy Graci recorded SRU's lone shot on goal in the game while Addy Ross also produced one off-target attempt. Goalkeeper Grace Burker stopped seven shots over 60 minutes in the defeat.

Slippery Rock's defense held strong for the entirety of the first quarter as SRU cleared both of IUP's penalty corners over the opening 15 minutes with Burker stopping two shots while another Indiana attempt was blocked by a SRU defender to send the game into the second quarter in a scoreless tie.

However, Indiana was finally broke through Slippery Rock's defense six minutes into the second quarter when Shelby Hoarnish centered a pass in the front of the cage to Jess Davidson, who was able to sneak a shot past Burker for what turned out to be the only goal of the first half.

The Crimson Hawks closed out the contest with a pair of insurance goals in the second half as Davidson scored again in the 43rd minute followed by a Harnish goal in the fourth quarter at 56:52.

For the game, Indiana held advantages over The Rock in total shots (14-2), shots on goal (10-1) and penalty corners (7-4).
