SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team fell 4-0 at home to No. 2 Mercyhurst University on Senior Day Saturday to conclude the 2022 season.

The loss seals SRU's overall record at 5-10-2 while its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division mark moves to 3-6-1. The Lakers continue their undefeated season, improving to 17-0-1 overall and 10-0 in the PSAC West.

Slippery Rock was led on offense by
Arturo Pla Hernandis who tallied The Rock's lone two shots of the match. Aly registered five saves while surrendering four goals over 90 minutes of action.

Mercyhurst was able to score a pair of goals in each half of the match as Nic Munch opened the Lakers' offensive efforts in the 25th minute by beating a Rock defender and laying a shot past Aly to take a 1-0 advantage.

With just 33 seconds left in the first half, Munch dished a pass to Julius Becker who found the back of the net, extending the MU lead to 2-0.

Coming out of the break, Mercyhurst quickly added to their advantage when Dylan Sumner scored an unassisted goal at 47:45. The Slippery Rock defense settled in over the following 30 minutes as they successfully defended five Laker shots, three of which were on target, and three MU corners.

However, the Mercyhurst offense broke through once more as Sumner played a pass to Martin Grzywa who netted the Lakers final goal of the game at 81:19, securing the 4-0 MU win.

Over 90 minutes, Mercyhurst held advantages over The Rock in total shots (15-2) shots on goal (9-0) and corners (9-1).
