Pitt-Johnstown rallied in the third quarter, ultimately outscoring SRU 15-14 and cutting The Rock's lead to as little as three points with 7:36 left to play in the third. However, SRU took the reins and extended its advantage out to as many as 18 points two times in the game's final stages before claiming the eventual 66-52 victory.
