SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost to Belmont Abbey College, 1-0, at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Saturday
The non-conference loss drops The Rock's record to 1-2 overall while Belmont Abbey maintained its perfect mark to improve to 3-0 in 2021.
SRU was paced Saturday by
Jessie Trube, who put three of her game-high four shot attempts on target.
Jordyn Isner chipped in two shots on goal with
Kayla Del Vecchio and
Samantha Karmonick also adding one shot on goal each.
Freshman goalkeeper

For the game, both Slippery Rock and Belmont Abbey had 10 total shots while the Crusaders held advantages over SRU in both shots on goal (8-7) and penalty corners (10-2).
Following a scoreless first quarter, Belmont Abbey finally broke through in the 28th minute when

After tallying just three shots in the first half, Slippery Rock peppered the Belmont Abbey cage with seven shots in the third quarter, but could never quite find the equalizer in the eventual one-goal defeat.
Belmont Abbey goalkeeper Chloe Parker made seven saves to earn the shutout.
Slippery Rock will hit the road for the first time this season when it plays a non-conference game at 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at Frostburg State University. SRU defeated Frostburg State twice during the 2019 season with a combined score of 11-0.
