SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The 23rd ranked Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team closed the first half on an 8-0 run and went on to earn a 14-3 victory over Slippery Rock University Wednesday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
Â
The Griffins stayed perfect on the year and improved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in PSAC West games with the victory, while The Rock drop to 4-6 overall and 3-6 in PSAC games with the loss.
Â
Slippery Rock scored the first goal of the game less than two minutes in when
Francesca Lindelow found the back of the net off an assist from
Molly Buettner. After SHU tied the game, Buettner tallied her own goal off a feed from
Katie Dlugosz to put The Rock up 2-1 with 22:47 left in the half.
Seton Hill took over from there, closing the half on an 8-0 run that was capped by a goal with just six seconds left to send the game to halftime with the Griffins leading 9-2.
Â
Both teams finished the game with relatively similar statistics across the board, but Slippery Rock struggled with shooting accuracy and couldn't solve Seton Hill keeper Kamille Ward. The Griffins finished with a slim 31-28 edge in total shots, but only 15 of those 28 SRU shots were on target and Ward saved 12 of those. Â
Â
SHU also posted narrow advantages of 10-9 in draw controls and 26-20 in ground balls. The Griffins were 18-of-20 on clear attempts and scored on 4-of-13 free position shots, while SRU went 16-of-22 on the clear and 0-for-5 on free position attempts.

Her 141 ground balls are also three shy of tying for fifth all-time at SRU.
Â

Â
Seton Hill got five points from Jaclyn Frank with two goals and three assists. Elizabeth Tamasitis added a hat trick and Kristi Kada scored two goals and had one assist. Ward grabbed five ground balls to go along with her 12 saves.
