The outing also marked Slippery Rock's first competition against another school that wasn't a scrimmage since its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament game at Pitt-Johnstown on March 2, 2020.

The Hawkeyes, which finished the 2020-21 season by going 22-9 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, came out of the break by scoring 30 of the first 32 points in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Â
As a team, Slippery Rock shot 21.5 percent (14-of-65) from the field overall and 15.4 percent (4-of-26) from 3-point range. However, SRU was great at the foul line as it converted 15 of its 19 free throws (78.9).

With its preseason now done, Slippery Rock turns its attention to hosting its first two regular season games of the season Nov. 12 against Notre Dame and Nov. 13 versus Alderson Broaddus at the Tip-Off Challenge. The Rock and Notre Dame are set for a 5 p.m. start at Morrow Field House.
