SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team extended its winning streak to three games Saturday after picking up a key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, and Atlantic Region, victory over East Stroudsburg University, 81-73, at Morrow Field House.

SRU ends its season-opening four-game homestand with a solid 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in PSAC competition while East Stroudsburg exits Morrow Field House 0-3 on the season overall and 0-1 in league games.

East Stroudsburg led Slippery Rock by as many as nine points midway through the first half and took a three-point advantage, 40-37, into the break.

However, as has been the case all season, SRU was dominant in the second half. The Rock closed out the game by shooting 60.7 percent (17-of-28) in final 20 minutes while forcing the Warriors into 11 second-half turnovers as Slippery Rock outscored ESU 44-33 to register the eight-point victory.

SRU has shot 57.4 percent (58-of-101) in the second half of contests during its three-game winning streak.

Amante Britt played one of the best games in his collegiate career while leading SRU to the victory. In addition to helping break a near constant ESU press, Britt scored a career-high 22 points while passing out four assists and making one steal. Britt, who went 8-for-12 from the field overall, 2-for-3 from deep and 4-for-6 at the foul line, scored 18 points in the second half.

Frankie Hughes kept The Rock in the game early with three 3-pointers in the first five minutes of action on the way to a 16-point showing offensively. Defensively, Hughes came up with two blocks and four steals as well.

After missing the PSU Fayette game due to a minor injury, a healthy Tyler Frederick made his return to the court Saturday, finishing with 13 points and seven rebounds. Fellow forward Lashon Lindsey made his second consecutive start and finished just shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds all the while blocking three shots and pocketing a pair of steals.

Jomo Goings provided The Rock with 30 crucial minutes off the bench as the freshman was one of The Rock's primary ball handlers against the aggressive Warrior defense. He concluded the night with a great all-around showing of 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals and just one turnover.

Rounding out SRU's top contributors against East Stroudsburg was Jonathan McFall and Bobby Clifford. McFall fought through foul trouble to score eight points, pick up four rebounds and make one steal while Clifford scored two points, handed out two assists and grabbed three rebounds.

ESU led by two points with 18:56 left in regulation when Slippery Rock rattled off an impeccable 33-12 run over the following 12 minutes to open up a 19-point advantage. Seven different players scored during the run.

While the Warriors did battle back to cut SRU's lead to just five points with one minute to play, they never truly threatened a determined Rock team as SRU closed out its first win over East Stroudsburg since 2013.

Slippery Rock shot a season-high 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the field overall including an efficient 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from 3-point range. SRU forced the Warriors into 19 turnovers while making just 14 miscues of its own. The Rock turned ESU's turnovers into 23 points

Despite facing a size disadvantage, Slippery Rock concluded the contest even with East Stroudsburg in rebounds at 31 apiece.

The Warriors were led by Marc Rodriguez, who scored 17 points thanks in no small part to a 5-for-7 effort from 3-point range. ESU shot 47.4 percent (27-of-5 7) and 54.5 percent (12-for-22) from 3-point territory.

Slippery Rock hits the road for the first time this season 4 p.m. Nov. 27 for a key Atlantic Region contest at the University of Charleston.
