KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost on the road at Kutztown University, 4-1, Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition.

The loss drops The Rock's record to 4-8 on the season overall and 1-7 in league games while the nationally ranked Golden Bears improve to 9-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Addy Ross accounted for The Rock's goal Saturday while also recording both of the team's shots. The goal marked her first of the season and third of her career.

Jordyn Isner set up Ross' goal for what was her team-leading fifth assist of the season. Isner exits the weekend ranked eighth in the PSAC for assists in 2021.

SRU's stout defense successfully cleared five Kutztown penalty corners and three Golden Bears shots on goal, all of which were stopped by goalkeeper
Grace Burker in the opening two quarters to send the game into halftime in a scoreless tie.

Kutztown broke the tie three minutes into the third quarter on a Juliana Donato goal. Slippery Rock answered back just over a minute later when Isner played a corner pass into Ross who fired a shot off from the top of the circle to the lower left past KU goalkeeper Katie Dotterweich to even the game at 1-1.

However, Slippery Rock's comeback bid was halted as Kutztown went on to score three unanswered goals over the remainder of the game en route to a three-goal victory.

For the game, Kutztown held advantages over The Rock in (18-2), shots on goal (11-1) and penalty corners (14-3).

Slippery Rock opens the stretch run of its season on the road 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Mercyhurst University.
