Each Wednesday of the fall semester we'll be bringing you "Get to Know Them" profiles of current Slippery Rock student-athletes as we shine a light on who our athletes are outside of their sport. Next up, we check in with Maggie Moore of the softball team.

QUICK BIO
Moore, a public health major from Jefferson, Ohio, has started every game she's appeared in for The Rock over her first two seasons. The sophomore has compiled a .263 career batting average on 49 hits with seven doubles and three home runs while posting a .349 career slugging percentage.

IN HER OWN WORDS
Q: Who are/were your biggest influences?
A: My dad is my biggest influence in life because he knows me better than I do myself sometimes. We have the same attitude and approach to things so I take his opinions and thoughts very seriously.

Q: What made you choose Slippery Rock?
A: I chose Slippery Rock because of the home-like feeling it gave me. The first time I visited was during the fall and the views I got from the porch attached to our locker room were amazing. I knew after that visit SRU was the place for me.

Q: Are you superstitious? What are some your superstitions?
A: I'd consider myself superstitious. If I have a good game, I repeat that same routine before the next one. Some of the superstitions I have include putting my uniform on a certain way, putting my hair in a plain ponytail and putting my softball bag next to Kaitlyn Bowman's bag.

Q: What’s your pregame routine?
A: I don't have many pregame routines. Coach Rice prays after we do our pregame drills and then it's game time.

Q: What’s your postgame routine?
A: I usually help rake the field and then clean up the dugout. After that I go see my family and we usually go out to eat.

Q: Pregame meal of choice?
A: I'd have to say something small like a Gatorade and some kind of snack from our snack room.

Q: What teammate are you closest too?
A: Kaitlyn Bowman and Ashley Calkins for sure. I see Kaitlyn every day since we live together and Ashley and I hangout all the time.

Q: Favorite course at SRU so far? Why?
A: I've been fortunate to have a lot of great professors and courses at Slippery Rock. If I had to pick a favorite course it'd be Introduction to Psychology. I learned so much in that class and it was always interesting.

Q: How do you hope to be remembered at Slippery Rock?
A: I hope to be remembered as a lively person that loved the game of softball and made everyone's day a little brighter.

Q: Not counting this year, what’s your typical summer schedule/routine like once classes end?
A: My typical summer routine usually includes working, hanging out with friends and catching up with family. That's pretty much my daily routine until schools starts back up.

Q: Which teammate makes the best playlists? What’s on those playlists?
A: I'd have to say Kaitlyn Bowman. I could listen to her playlists every day because they've got throwback and current music.

Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes. I have a chocolate lab named Bam at home, he is so energetic and the cutest.

Q: Where is one vacation destination you haven’t been yet, but is definitely going to happen?
A: I'm definitely going to Oregon or Washington so that I can see the mountains.

Q: As a freshman who was the person on your team that helped you the most? How did they do it?
A: When I was a freshman, Kailey Myers and Caitlyn MacKelvey were the teammates that helped me the most. Myers showed me the ropes of how to be a good teammate and invited me to do things all the time. Caitlyn went to the library with me and helped me become a better person. They've both had a big impact on my life.

Q: As an upperclassman/veteran of the program, how do you try to help guide newcomers on the team?
A: I try to include newcomers in as many things as I can and show them that they don't need to be shy. I remember I was very quiet when I first came to SRU and now I'm definitely not the quiet one on the team. Being able to show them you don't have to hide who you really are is the biggest thing for me.
