Each Wednesday of the fall semester we'll be bringing you "Get to Know Them" profiles of current Slippery Rock student-athletes as we shine a light on who our athletes are outside of their sport. Next up, we check in with baseball’s Anthony Cinicola.


QUICK BIO
Cinicola, a computer science major, is in his third year as a member of the Slippery Rock baseball program. As a redshirt freshman in 2020, Cinicola started six of The Rock’s 10 games at shortstop before the season was canceled. 

IN HIS OWN WORDS
Q: Who are/were your biggest influences?
A: Growing up I was a huge Jack Wilson fan, but my brother and my dad have always been my most consistent influences.

Q: What made you choose Slippery Rock?
A: I chose Slippery Rock because it is close to home and the winning history the baseball team has.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents or skills people might not know about?
A: I can play the guitar, ukulele, and the harmonica

Q: What’s the most embarrassing/funny moment that you can recall happening to you during a game or practice?
A: The most embarrassing moment I’ve had so far was during my freshman year. During one of our fall intrasquad games I was put in the outfield for the first time in five years and missed the first ball hit to me by 10 feet. 

Q: Pregame meal of choice?
A: Boozel pizza

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: In 10 years I hope to be working as a software engineer and living in the south where it’s warm.

Q: Top 3 musicians/bands?
A: Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor and Led Zeppelin

Q: Top 3 movies?
A: Rocky II, Good Will Hunting and Pulp Fiction

Q: Do you have any pets?
A: I have one dog

Q: Where is one vacation destination you haven’t been yet, but is definitely going to happen?
A: Montauk, New York to fish for striper

Q: What do you do to get away from your sport (hobbies)?
A: Fish and playing the guitar

Q: What’s one fashion trend you wish would come back?
A: 80s mustaches

Q: Which TV game show or reality show do you think you could win?
A: Deal or no deal

Q: What was your first job?
A: Cashier at Best Buy

Q: If you could be the absolute best in the world at any one skill or talent, what would you choose?
A: Hitting a baseball
