SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University field hockey sophomore forward Jessie Trube scored a single-game record four goals to lead SRU to an 8-0 victory Tuesday against Frostburg State University at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The victory improves The Rock's record to 1-1 on the season overall while Frostburg State drops to 0-3 in the loss.

Tuesday's game was never in doubt as Slippery Rock scored six first-half goals while not allowing Frostburg State to record a shot in the opening 30 minutes on the way to its shutout victory.

Trube scored the game's first goal five minutes into the first quarter followed by another score just before halftime and two more fourth-quarter goals to close out her record-breaking performance. Emily Polakovsky assisted on Trube's fourth goal.

The previous record for goals in a game at The Rock was three held by Kaitlin McGinnis, Megan McKay and Rebecca Coleman.

Junior forward Kayla Ulrich added a pair of goals as well, one of which was assisted on by Trube, to go with one assist of her own. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Marks and freshman forward Addy Ross rounded out The Rock's onslaught with one goal each.

Slippery Rock finished the game holding advantages over Frostburg State in total shots (30-9), shots on goal (22-8) and penalty corners (15-5).

Trube placed nine of her 11 shots on target against the Bobcats. Marks registered four shots on goal while Ross and Ulrich each tallied three shots on goal. Freshman forward Jordyn Isner and junior midfielder Abby McKay accounted for the rest of SRU's shots on goal with two and one, respectively.

Three Rock goalkeepers combined for the shutout. Junior Maddie Murphy played two quarters, making three saves while sophomore Hannah Nurse and freshman Taylor Page each played one quarter. Page made a team-best four saves. Senior midfielder Brenna McGovern-Lind aided the shutout by making her first collegiate defensive save.

Gabby Rachuba paced the Frostburg State attack with four shots on goal. Goalkeepers Sierra Smizer and Madison Manalansan both played 30 minutes for the Bobcats. Smizer allowed six goals while making 11 saves. Manalansan surrendered two goals and tallied three saves.

Every player in uniform for Slippery Rock on Tuesday entered the game.

Slippery Rock will now turn its attention to back-to-back non-conference road games 3 p.m. Friday at Kutztown University and 12 p.m. Saturday at East Stroudsburg University.

NOTES
• Slippery Rock's eight goals mark the second-highest single-game scoring output by a Rock field hockey team ever and are the most since an 11-goal performance against Washington and Jefferson in 2001.

• SRU's 30 shots rank third in program history. Slippery Rock took 35 shots in 2013 against Mansfield and 32 against Kutztown during the 2013 season as well.

• Before Trube's big day the last Rock player to score three or more goals in a game was Megan McKay, who recorded three hat tricks in 2015.

• Not to be lost in Trube's big day was Ulrich's production. With five points Tuesday she moved into a tie with Lindsey Brown (2011-13) for third in SRU history for points in a career with 49. She needs two more points to tie Marlene Hall (1985-88) for second place.

• Ulrich's two goals give her 22 scored at The Rock, vaulting her to within one goal of tying Ann Motyka (1976-78) for third place on SRU's career goal ledger.

• Murphy's win was the 12th of her career. She is now tied with Lisa Belcastro (2007-10) for wins by goalkeeper.
