SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University softball team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division doubleheader against Edinboro University Sunday at the SRU Softball Complex. After a 9-3 loss in game one, Slippery Rock fell in game two, 5-2.
Edinboro slugged 16 hits in game one on its way to the win.

Alexa Guglielmino tallied the team's three RBI.
In game two, The Rock had a 2-1 lead until the top of the fifth. The Fighting Scots tallied two runs in the fifth and the sixth winning the game, 5-2.
Adeline Nicholson homered and Guglielmino posted three hits, but it was not enough for SRU to come back.
With the losses, Slippery Rock falls to 12-17 on the season and 4-4 in PSAC West play.
Game One: Slippery Rock 3 – Edinboro 9
SRU mustered just five hits while the Fighting Scots ripped 16 in the contest. EU scored runs in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to defeat Slippery Rock, 9-3.
Edinboro scored first on an RBI single from Shannon Gilbert scoring Danna Heh.
In the third, EU scored two more on RBI singles from Victoria Allocco and Brittany Allen. SRU did answer back with a run of its own on an RBI triple from Guglielmino scoring
Caitlyn MacKelvey.
Boro continued to hit tallying runs in the top of the fourth. Gilbert aided with her second RBI on the day with a single to score Lauren Gierlak.
Becca Roesch cut the deficit to one on a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fourth scoring
Leah Vith and Nicholson, however, it would be the closest SRU would get trailing, 4-3.
The Fighting Scots combined for five runs in the fifth and sixth innings en route to the victory, 9-3.
Carley Nasca (W, 9-5) got the win going 7.0 innings allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five.
Camie Shumaker (L, 8-8) took the loss surrendering eight runs (six earned) on 15 hits while punching out one.
Game Two: Slippery Rock 2 – Edinboro 5
SRU had a lead in the second game, but was unable to hold on and fell, 5-2.
Going down early 1-0, Slippery Rock responded in the bottom of the second when Nicholson clubbed her fourth home run of the season over the left field scoreboard to tie things up, 1-1. It was also her second home run in two days.
The Rock took the lead in the third with two outs. With a pair of runners on,
Maggie Moore singled to left scoring Guglielmino putting SRU ahead, 2-1.
Edinboro tied things in the fifth when Cheyenne Bothun hit a solo shot. Later in the frame, Olivia Jankowski singled up the middle to give Boro a 3-2 advantage.
The Fighting Scots put the game out of reach in the sixth after a pair of Rock errors chased two runs home giving Edinboro a 5-2 lead.
SRU was unable to muster a comeback in the last two innings and dropped the second contest, 5-2.
Amanda Metz (W, 2-7) got the win going 6.1 innings allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four.
Nasca (S, 1) picked up the save hurling 0.2 innings surrendering one hit.
Chloe Sharman (L, 4-4) took the loss going 5.1 innings surrendering five runs (four earned) on nine hits.

Slippery Rock will take a break from PSAC West games when it travels to Pittsburgh for a pair of contests at Point Park University. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
