The Slippery Rock women’s tennis team pushed its winning streak to three matches with a 5-2 victory against Georgetown Monday at the Evian Tennis Center in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team pushed its winning streak to three matches with a 5-2 victory against Georgetown College Monday at the Evian Tennis Center in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

In addition to furthering its winning streak, the victory also pushes The Rock's record to 6-2 on the season. Georgetown drops to 4-3 in 2018-19 with the loss.

Slippery Rock wasted little time collecting the matches' doubles point with back-to-back wins out of the second and third flights to start the contest as Olivia Warner and Lacey Cohen defeated Abigail Kennedy and Katie Eden 6-3 followed by a 7-5 triumph for Lauren Fadden and Allie Welch over Lauren Moore and Grace Gorby.

While the team point was already clinched by The Rock, Georgetown avoided the doubles sweep with a 7-6 (7-5) win in the top flight by Lauren Fazenbaker and Madelyn Kauffman against Viola Lugmayr and Lois Page.

Slippery Rock proceeded to capture three straight singles matches to clinch the team victory. Fadden bested Noel Bielski in the fourth flight 6-2, 6-2, Warner defeated Katie Swanson 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 at third singles and Welch posted the game-winner with a 7-5, 7-6 win in the fifth flight.

Georgetown registered its first point in the first flight when Maci Ferguson downed Lugmayr 6-4, 6-4. The final two bouts of the day saw Page register a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles against Amanda Moore and Amy Varckette suffer a narrow 6-4, 6-4 defeat against Gorby in the sixth flight.

Warner, Page and Fadden have all won three straight singles matches entering an off day on SRU's spring break trip. Cohen and Warner have combined to win three straight outings as well in doubles competition. Prior to Monday's match Cohen was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week.

Slippery Rock continues its season 8:30 a.m. Wednesday against George Mason University at the Van Der Meer Tennis Complex in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
