WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest at the University of the District of Columbia, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon.
Alexander Vilchek and
George Oakley recorded two shots on goal apiece for The Rock.

The Firebirds got on the board early when SRU tallied an own goal in the third minute.

In the 11th minute, Slippery Rock almost tied the game when Oakley sent one on net, but it was saved by goalkeeper Daniel Eisenhauer. Vilchek then fired a shot on target, but Eisenhauer made another save.Â

SRU nearly tied the game again at 26:30 when Vilchek fired another shot on target, but Eisenhauer was there to clean it up.

At 78:42, it was Oakley who put another shot on target, but Eisenhauer made the save.
Â
UDC put the game away in the 80th minute when Brandon Rios scored off an assist by Raphael Pacano to give the Firebirds the advantage, 2-0.

Slippery Rock goalkeeper
Matt Hunsberger made seven saves in net on 10 shots faced.
With the loss, SRU falls to 1-3-1 on the season and UDC improves to 3-2-1 for the year.
