SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University softball program will host prospect camps Sept. 29-30 for all interested athletes that will be entering grades 9-12 in the fall, head coach Stacey Rice announced Wednesday.
 
The prospect camps are designed to improve attendees' skills while giving prospective student-athletes the opportunity to see what it is like to be coached in a collegiate softball environment.
 
The Sept. 29 prospect camp features five potential sessions (hitting, catcher, infield, outfield and a 1-on-1 with coach Rice) and is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The prospect camp on Sept. 30 will go from 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. and includes four sessions (two pitching, one hitting and a 1-on-1 with coach Rice). While the Sept. 30 camp is geared more towards pitchers, position players are welcome to sign up for the hitting session.
 
Attendees are required to bring their own equipment (including indoor and outdoor shoes). Pitchers also must supply their own catcher. While limited concessions will be available, athletes are also encouraged to bring their own water and snacks.
 
Registration will be held at Morrow Field House on both days beginning at 8:30 a.m. Each camp will be held regardless of weather conditions. All sessions will be moved inside to Morrow Field House in case of inclement weather.

SESSION DESCRIPTIONS / PRICING
HITTING – $65 - You have the opportunity to display your athleticism by participating in hitting drills that the SRU softball team practices daily. Additionally, you have the opportunity to hit against The Rock's pitching staff. All hitting will take place at Morrow Field House.
 
CATCHER – $30 - You will have the opportunity to showcase your throwing, blocking and framing skills, as well as your quickness and mobility behind the plate. This session will be outside (TBA), weather permitting.
 
INFIELD - $30 - You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your athleticism at multiple infield positions while showcasing your smoothness, quickness, arm strength, range and glove skills. This session will be outside (TBA), weather permitting.
 
OUTFIELD - $30 - You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your athleticism at multiple outfield positions while showcasing your quickness, range, arm strength and drop step skills. This session will be outside (TBA), weather permitting.
 
PITCHING - $60 - You will have the opportunity to showcase all current pitches and the chance to learn new ones. All pitching will take place indoors at Morrow Field House.
 
1-on-1 - $30 - This session gives you an opportunity to speak with coach Rice, her coaching staff and other student-athletes to answer questions about Slippery Rock University, our softball program, academics, the student-athlete balance, the eligibility process, and more—this is an informal, open Q&A format for students and parents, so come with questions!
