SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University softball team will play 12 games over six days March 10-16 at the NTC Softball Tournament in Clermont, Florida.
The Rock will battle the University of Bridgeport, Le Moyne College, University of Illinois-Springfield, Saint Michael's College, the University of Charleston (W. Va.), Northwood University, Jefferson University, Bloomsburg University, Wayne State University, University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) and Bemidji State University.
SERIES HISTORY
SRU is a combined 10-36 against the opponents it will be facing in Florida. Bloomsburg is the team it has faced the most and has a 2-18 all-time record against the Huskies. Slippery Rock boasts .500 or above records against Bridgeport (1-0) and Northwood (3-3).
The Rock have also tallied wins against Le Moyne (three) and Wayne State (one) and has yet to play a game against Northwood.

THE ROCK NOTES

JUST WAITING – Slippery Rock has not played in a game since Feb. 25 when it defeated Virginia State to complete a four-game sweep of the Trojans. SRU's 13-day hiatus is the longest stretch between games for the season.

HOT START – The Rock heads to Florida with a 7-2 record to begin 2018. It is Slippery Rock's best nine-game start to begin a season since 2011, where it was also 7-2.

Brooke Dawson,
Camie Shumaker, Andrea Copelli and
Paige Flore have combined for a 2.10 ERA (18 ER in 60.0 IP) and opponents are hitting just .236 (54-for-229) against them. The quartet has also combined for three complete games and one shutout.

POWER SURGE – In 2017, The Rock did not a ball over the wall until their eighth game of the season. Through its first nine contests this season, SRU has slugged three dingers.

HONORS – Prior to SRU's 13-day break, SRU swept Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division weekly honors two consecutive weeks. Myers and Shumaker swept week one, while
Becca Roesch and Shumaker swept week two.

RECORDS TO WATCH –Nagle is currently 12th all-time in Rock program history in runs scored (72) and sixth all-time in hits (140). She needs just two to be tied for 11th all-time in runs and three hits to tie for fifth all-time.
• Dawson ranks second in SRU softball history in shutouts (9), fourth in strikeouts (267), fifth in wins (27) and sixth in innings pitched (352.1). She needs just one shutout to tie for first, 13 strikeouts to tie for third, one win to tie for fourth and 26.1 innings pitched to tie for fifth.

Lauren Hawley is 14th on The Rock softball home run list with eight and 16th in RBI, with 53. Hawley needs just one home run to tie for 13th and one RBI to tie for 14th.

LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock is coming of a four-game sweep on the road at Virginia State. During the series, SRU outscored the Trojans 21-6 and had a team ERA of 1.50 (6 ER in 28.0 IP). The Rock also hit .263 (29-for-110) as a team.

MIGHTY MYERS – Myers continued her excellent start to the season hitting .400 (4-for-10) with a double and four RBI at VSU. She currently has a .520/.760/.600 slash line and leads the team in RBI (11), hits (13) and total bases (19).

FIGHTIN' FRESHMEN – Freshmen standouts Roesch and Shumaker also impressed in their last contests at Virginia State. Roesch was dominant at the plate hitting .462 (6-for-13) with three doubles, four RBI and three runs scored in the series. Shumaker continued to be stellar in the circle appearing in two games (one start). In the first game of the weekend, she entered as a reliever hurling 2.2 innings surrendering one run on three hits and striking out one earning a save. She made her first career start in the next contest and threw a complete-game shutout scattering five hits, walking two and punching out six.
