SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team defeated Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday afternoon at James Egli Field, 2-1. Brooke Testa registered the game-winner in the 80th minute off a pass from Tyler Spence en route to the win.

Slippery Rock recorded a goal in the first half, but surrendered a penalty kick score in the 75th minute that tied the game, 1-1. However, Testa's goal at 79:22 gave the team a late advantage and the defense held on for the victory, 2-1.

At 28:27, Megan Sikora played a shot into the net off a rebounded shot by Rachel Edge to give SRU a 1-0 lead. It was Sikora's first goal of her collegiate career and Edge's seventh assist of the year.

In the closing minutes of the first half, at 43:05, Slippery Rock aimed to take a 2-0 advantage when Testa sent a shot on target, but UPJ goalkeeper, Leigh Appolonia made the save. In the 45th minute Testa fired another shot on frame, but Appolonia made the save and The Rock took their 1-0 lead into the break.

Rock was clinging to its 1-0 advantage for the first 30 minutes of the half until a handball in the box allowed a penalty kick opportunity for the Mountain Cats. UPJ's Kyra Watkins then shot it past Rock goalkeeper Kylie Downs to level the score, 1-1.

Fortunately, The Rock responded in the 80th minute when Spence's shot was deflected and Testa finished it into the back of the net to give Slippery Rock the lead, 2-1.

For the last 10 and a half minutes, SRU's defense played outstanding not surrendering a shot and holding on for the victory over UPJ, 2-1.
