SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon at James Egli Field. SRU's
Alexander Vilchek tallied four points on two goals while
George Oakley and
Mohsen Kanani recorded one score apiece in the victory.

The Rock and the Mountain Cats both went scoreless in the first half, but Slippery Rock came out firing in the second period scoring four goals en route to the win.

At 61:28,
Omar Bangura was fouled in the box, which gave The Rock a penalty kick opportunity. Oakley fired it past UPJ's goalkeeper Josh Zakrzewski for his second goal of the season and put SRU on the board, 1-0.

Just a few moments later, Bangura sent a beautiful pass to Vilchek who fired it into the net for the score. It was Vilchek's first collegiate goal and Bangura's second assist of the year.

In the 72nd minute, Oakley played a ball into
Luke Picchi who brought it down and chipped it to Vilchek and he finished it into the net for the score. It was Picchi's first assist and Oakley's third tying them for the team-lead in total points with seven. For Vilchek, it was his second goal of the season and SRU went up 3-0 on UPJ.

To close out Rock scoring, Kanani fired a header into the net off a free kick by Oakley to seal Slippery Rock's victory over Pitt-Johnstown, 4-0.

The Rock outshot the Mountain Cats, 23-3, overall and 13-3 in shots on goal.

Matt Hunsberger made three saves and recorded his fourth shutout this season.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 4-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in league games while Pitt-Johnstown drops to 2-8-0 on the season and 0-5-0 in PSAC contests.
