SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 1-0 win over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe Shippensburg University Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, seniors

Slippery Rock got on the board early with a goal from
Jordyn Minda in the first half and was able to hold off Shippensburg in the second period en route to the win.

In the sixth minute, Minda received a through ball from Testa and she beat the keeper for her sixth goal of the season. It was Testa's sixth assist of the 2018 campaign.

SHIP registered four shots in the first period, but none were on frame and Slippery Rock took its 1-0 lead into the break.

Early in the second half, SRU almost took a 2-0 advantage when
Shannon McIntyre fired a shot, but it was blocked.

Moments later,
Rachel Edge put a shot on frame, but Raiders' goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett made the save.
Â
With time winding down, Shippensburg nearly leveled the score in at 84:46 when Allie Christman fired a shot that was saved by Downs.
Â
In the 87th minute, SHIP's Mariah Varner sent a shot on that hit the post, and K.K. O'Donnell put one on target, but Downs made the stop.

Downs made another solid save at 88:07 off a shot from Izzy Weigel to keep the shutout intact as SRU held on for the win, 1-0.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 12-4-2 overall and 10-4-2 in PSAC games while Shippensburg falls to is 7-10-1 and 5-10-1 in league games.

As of Right now, Slippery Rock can either be the seventh or eighth seed and can either play at Kutztown or Bloomsburg in the first round of the PSAC Tournament. Slippery Rock will await the results of West Chester and Indiana, and Clarion at East Stroudsburg to conclude their regular seasons for the PSAC Tournament bracket to be set.
