SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost to Shippensburg University 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-22) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition Saturday afternoon at Morrow Field House.

Slippery Rock drops to 8-8 on the season overall and 0-4 in league matches. Shippensburg improves to 11-5 in 2017 overall and 4-0 in PSAC play with the win.

Brooke Bostwick had a terrific performance Saturday. The senior middle hitter recorded 10 kills on a .333 attack percentage to go with a team-best five block assists.

Erinn Kahoe continued what has already been a solid freshman campaign with seven kills and four block assists. Rounding out The Rock's attack was
Stephanie Jacobsen (four kills) and
Shayla Ray (three kills, three blocks).

Setters
Zoe Rivet and
Haley Defibaugh recorded 14 and 11 assists, respectively, with Rivet also serving one ace.
Lamija Alisic tallied The Rock's other ace against the Raiders.

Courtney Oberlander made a team-high 15 digs while
Jalyn Willard added 11 digs in support of The Rock's defense as well.

SRU held a lead for the majority of the early stages of the opening set, but Shippensburg went on a decisive 4-0 run with SRU leading 13-12 to take a 16-13 lead that it would keep for the rest of the set in what turned out to be a 25-18 Raiders win.

The Rock once again played Shippensburg close in the second set as they trailed by just one point late in the game at 17-16. However, the Raiders once again rattled off four unanswered points to increase its lead to 21-16 en route to the 25-18 victory.

The third set of the day was Slippery Rock's best of the day, but with the score tied 22-22 Shippensburg recorded three straight kills, two of which came from Sam Webber, to finish off the shutout 25-22.

The Raiders were led by Morgan DeFloria, who recorded a match-high 18 kills in the win. As a team, Shippensburg ended the match with a .235 attack percentage.

For the match, Shippensburg held advantages over The Rock in attack percentage (.235 - .116) and aces (4-2) while SRU bettered the Raiders in blocks (8-5).

Slippery Rock continues its four-match homestand 7 p.m. Oct. 6 against California (Pa.).
