EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest at East Stroudsburg University Saturday afternoon. The Rock managed three shots on goal.

East Stroudsburg scored its only goal late in the first half. SRU nearly tied the game on a shot from
Skye Kramer that hit the post, but the Warriors held on for the win.

The Rock drops to 5-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in conference play, while ESU improves to 7-2-1 and 7-2-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games.

Slippery Rock nearly took an early lead when Kramer sent a header toward goal, but East Stroudsburg goalkeeper Jules Harris made the save. Â

In the 40
th minute, ESU took the 1-0 lead when Jessica Woodbyrne scored on a pass from Sammi Ortiz.

Brooke Testa almost tied the game when she fired one on target, but it was saved by Harris. East Stroudsburg took its 1-0 lead into the break.

ESU nearly made it 2-0 in the second half, but goalkeeper
Kylie Downs was all over it. At 68:10, Alex Pickett sent one on target, but Downs made the save. Downs finished with five saves on six shots faced.

The Rock nearly tied the game at 67:54 when Kramer fired one, but it hit the post. SRU had a corner kick in the 80
th minute, but unfortunately could not register a shot, and the Warriors hung on for the 1-0 win.

Shannon McIntyre recorded one shot on goal apiece in the loss.

SRU will be back in action 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Pitt-Johnstown for a PSAC contest.
