SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University softball team will head south to the Sunshine State this weekend to compete in the National Training Center Tournament in Clermont, Florida. The Rock will face 10 non-conference opponents and two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference teams in 12 games across seven days.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
Record: 1-4
Overview: Slippery Rock dropped four straight games before earning its first win of the season three weeks ago at the Snowbird Freeze Out in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Rock is hitting .234 as a team, while the pitching staff has a combined for a 3.61 ERA.
Top Bats: Kailey Myers leads The Rock with a .385 batting average (5-for-13), while
Caitlin Baxter is .357 (5-for-14) with a team-high three RBI.
Emily Nagle (5-for-16) and
Nicole Siciliano (4-for-13) are both hitting above .300. Additionally,
Megan Brown is 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.Â
Top Arms: Carly DeRose earned SRU's first victory the season and has a team-best 1.40 ERA with nine strikeouts in two appearances.
Paige Flore,
Andria Copelli and
Brooke Dawson will also see time in the circle after making their season debuts three weeks ago in Myrtle Beach.
Up Next: Following the NTC Tournament, Slippery Rock welcomes Lock Haven to the SRU Softball Complex March 25 in the first doubleheader of the season.

SCOUTING CALDWELL
Record: 1-1
Overview: Melissa Rini and Katie Nichols both went 2-for-4 on Thursday in Caldwell's opening two games against Saint Anselm and Assumption at the NTC Tournament, with Rini recording two RBI and two runs. Sydney Ponto (1.05 ERA) struck out nine to earn the win for Caldwell on Thursday, while Alexa Toner and Sara Bearden also saw time in the circle for the Cougars.

SCOUTING GEORGIAN COURT
Record: 1-7
Overview: Through eight games, Cassandra Varvaro leads the Lions with a .391 batting average (9-for-23), while Samantha Reilly posts team-highs in hits (10) and RBI (six). Jessica O'Neil (4.05 ERA) leads the pitching rotation at 1-4 with 10 strikeouts in three complete games. Taylor Baloga (5.86 ERA) has struck out seven batters and posts a record of 0-2.

SCOUTING AUGUSTANA
Record: 5-4
Overview: Maggie Kadrlik is batting .520 (13-for-25) with five doubles, 10 runs and nine RBI to lead the Vikings this spring. Sarah Kennedy is just behind that with a team-high 14 hits (.519). Lexy Pederson has a team-best 2.14 ERA with 19 strikeouts and three wins under her belt. Maggiee Dunnett has an ERA of 3.27 and six strikeouts in five appearances, while Olivia Wolters (3.45 ERA) has two wins and 18 strikeouts so far this season.

SCOUTING FAIRMONT STATE
Record: 3-6
Overview: Beth Cook leads her team with a .409 average (9-for-22), five runs and four RBI. Rachel Bias is 1-3 on the year with a 3.15 ERA and 12 strikeouts. Hannah Absalom is 1-2 (6.75 ERA) in six appearances, while Darby Petersen is 0-1 with a 4.66 ERA this season.

SCOUTING WAYNE STATE
Record: 11-4
Overview: The Warriors won five straight games last weekend at the Shaw Invitational. Lyndsay Butler is batting .472 for WSU with team-highs of 25 hits, 19 RBI and 18 runs. Butler also anchors the pitching rotation and has logged 58.2 innings pitched in eight starts. Butler posts an impressive ERA of 0.24 and has already struck out 77 batters this spring.

SCOUTING ST. CLOUD STATE
Record: 13-3
Overview: Alyssa Coletto leads the Huskies with a .465 batting average (20-for-43), while Jessica Goerger (.319) has a team-high 18 RBI. Kate Kopeck is 7-0 after logging three complete games and 33 strikeouts this spring. Megan Hestrom is 5-3 in 12 appearances with 34 strikeouts across 53 innings pitched.

SCOUTING INDIANA (Pa.)
Record: 0-0
Overview: Indiana (Pa.) will open the season with four games at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament this weekend before heading to the NTC Tournament early next week. Hannah Mercer returns for her senior season after a standout 2016 season that saw 61 hits, 21 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Lauren Zola is Indiana's top returning pitcher from last spring. Zola was 12-9 in 24 appearances last season with 117 strikeouts across 132.2 innings pitched.

SCOUTING WEST CHESTER
Record: 6-3
Overview: Bri Garber has led the Golden Rams through nine contests this spring with a .478 batting average on 11 hits, while Sara Ercolani and Cat Hammer have eight RBI apiece. Amanda Houck has a team-high six starts and posts a 2.74 ERA to lead the pitching effort for West Chester.

SCOUTING BEMIDJI STATE
Record: 2-0
Overview: Through two games, Jessica Yost is hitting .625 with a 5-for-8 plate performance to go with two home runs and four RBI. Additionally, Alexandra Ripka, Jessica Burlingame and Angie Roberts are all batting .500 this spring. Yost also anchors the pitching rotation with a 0.53 ERA. She has logged 30 strikeouts in two starts this season.

SCOUTING CHARLESTON
Record: 5-5
Overview: Rachelle Toppings has a team-best .389 batting average on 14 hits, while Laura Ashlock and Haleigh Christopher both have 10 RBI apiece for the Golden Eagles. Ali Burdette is 2-3 with 4.38 ERA and 32 strikeouts, while Jessie Rowe is 3-2 with 4.48 ERA and 14 strikeouts.

Record: 5-6
Overview: Bekah Kastning (.513) leads the Chargers with a team-best 20 hits and eight RBI. Rookie Dana Weidinger (4-2, 2.98 ERA) leads the Hillsdale pitching unit with 29 strikeouts across 40 innings pitched.

SCOUTING NOVA SOUTHEASTERN
Record: 10-12
Overview: Dana Edmundson leads the team with a .348 batting average (23-for-66) and a team-high 12 RBI, four doubles and two home runs. Leading the charge for the Sharks is Lexie Storrer, who has started in 12 games and recorded 41 strikeouts for a 6-6 record. Erica Winter has logged three complete games and a 4-2 record in nine appearances.
