Rock wins third straight with 3-1 win vs. Millersville

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team defeated Millersville 3-1 Friday afternoon at James Egli Field. Maddy Tletski recorded two goals in the win.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team beat Millersville University 3-1 Friday afternoon at James Egli Field. Maddy Tletski registered two goals in the victory.
 
The Rock scored three goals in the first half. Tletski and Taylor Gunn were able to beat the keeper. However, Slippery Rock surrendered one score in the second period. The defense continued its excellent play this season to hold off the Millersville attack en route to the victory.
 
SRU improves to 8-4-1 overall and 8-3-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play. Millersville falls to 4-7-2 overall and 3-7-2 in league play.
 
The Rock got on the board early at 17:11 when Tletski received a cross from Tess Keeley and she fired it into the net for the score. It was Keeley's team-leading fifth assist of the season. Keeley now sits alone on SRU's all-time leaders in assists with 17.
 
At 22:29, it was Tletski again who got loose. Skye Kramer sent her a pass that she fired from about 20 yards out and put it into the net. Tletski's goals were her first and second of the season. It was Kramer's fourth assist of 2017.
 
In the 29th minute, The Rock made it a 3-0 lead when Taylor Gunn played a deflected shot from Sofia Harrison into the net for the score. It was Gunn's second goal of the season and Harrison's first assist of the campaign. SRU took its 3-0 lead into halftime.
 
Out of the break, in the 61st minute, Millersville snapped any hopes of a shutout, when Alyssa Antonelly played a free kick into the box that Stacie Hallinan finished for the score. The Rock still held a commanding lead, 3-1.
 
Slippery Rock's last chance to make it a 4-1 lead was at 73:53 when Emily Aldridge fired a shot, but it was blocked. SRU did however hold on for the 3-1 victory
 
Goalkeeper Kylie Downs played another solid game in goal recording seven saves on eight chances.
 
SRU will look to make it a four-game winning streak at California (Pa.) 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
