SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division contest to Seton Hill University, 74-63, Saturday afternoon at Morrow Field House.

The Griffins, who sank a season-high 13 3-pointers in the win, now hold a two-game lead over Slippery Rock for sixth place in the PSAC West standings. The top six teams in the division at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the PSAC Tournament.Â

Slippery Rock (9-12, 6-9 PSAC West) finished the game shooting 36.1 percent (22-of-61) from the field overall, 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point range, and 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the foul line. SRU forced 15 Seton Hill turnovers while committing just 13 miscues of its own.

Seton Hill (12-9, 8-7 PSAC West) shot 36.2 percent (21-of-58) from the field, 36.1 percent (13-of-36) from beyond the arc, and 70.4 percent (19-of-27) at the free throw line. The Griffins also held a 41-39 rebounding advantage over The Rock.

C.C. Dixon stepped up big in the absence of PSAC West Athlete of the Week
Lexi Carpenter, who played just over one minute Saturday, with career-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds.
Brooke Hinderliter finished with 19 points, one shy of her season-high, to go with a three assist-three steal line.

Mallory Heinle chipped in eight points, seven rebounds and one block while
Morgan Henderson scored six points and
LeeAnn Gibson had six rebounds off the bench to round out SRU's top performers.

Jenna Kaufman paced the Griffins with 19 points. Mariah Wells added 16 points, while Alexandria Deep and Lindsey Mifsud reached double-figures with 12 and 10 points, respectfully.

Seton Hill led by as many as five points on three occasions in the first quarter and eventually took a four-point lead on SRU at 15-11 with 2:29 to play in quarter. However, Slippery Rock closed strong with a 9-0 run thanks to five points from Dixon, one from Gibson and a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Henderson to give Slippery Rock a 20-15 lead through the opening 10 minutes.

Seton Hill responded with a 15-3 run over the second quarter's first eight minutes to retake the lead, 31-23. Slippery Rock went scoreless for a six-minute stretch over the Seton Hill run. SRU battled back from its scoring drought with a 6-0 run to cut Seton Hill's lead down to two points at 31-29 at the halftime break. Hinderliter, Dixon and
Sierra Fordham all scored two points during The Rock's mini run.

Slippery Rock and Seton Hill traded baskets over the entirety of the third quarter with Seton Hill managing to increase its halftime lead by just one point to pull ahead 50-47 going into the final quarter of regulation.

The Griffins quickly built their lead out to nine points through the opening two minutes of the fourth quarter. Slippery Rock would cut its deficit down to five points, but would get no closer as the Griffins connected on 10 of its final 15 foul shots in the game's closing minutes on the way to a 74-63 victory.

The Rock will host No. 5 California (Pa.) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday's game will be "White Out Night" at Morrow Field House in addition to Hoop Heroes Day. Children in Pre-K through the eighth grade will receive free admission to the game.
