WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches against Mount Olive and Winston-Salem State Saturday evening at the Spike Out Hunger Challenge hosted by Winston-Salem State University.
The Rock started the day with a 3-1 loss (25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22) to Mount Olive before dropping a contest to Winston-Salem State 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 26-24).
Leah Jones led The Rock in the loss to Mount Olive with 15 kills. Rookie
Zoe Rivet passed out 16 assists, while
Courtney Oberlander recorded 13 digs.
Against the host Rams,
Kelsey Boyle had 13 kills, while
Haley Defibaugh had 23 assists.
Brooke Bostwick had four blocks and Oberlander had 14 digs to round out The Rock's top performers.
The Rock continues non-conference action next weekend at the Daemen College/Hyatt Place Volleyball Classic. SRU will face Daemen (Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.), Roberts Wesleyan (Sept. 9 at 5 p.m.), Assumption (Sept. 10 at 11 a.m.) and Saint Rose (Sept. 10 at 3 p.m.).
