MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference road contest at No. 25 Millersville University, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops The Rock's record to 1-3-1 on the season overall and 1-1-1 in league play. Millersville improves to 4-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference matches with the win.

Nick Sodini recorded four of Slippery Rock's six shots on the afternoon with two of the attempts being on goal.
George Oakley and
Kyle Boyer also tallied shots against the Marauders.

Jonathan Sharp stopped four shots over 90 minutes in the defeat.

Millersville jumped ahead early with what would turn out to be the game-winning goal just 2:05 into regulation when Kody Eberly lifted a pass over The Rock's backline to Nathan Delgado, who was able to slip a shot by Sharp to give Millersville an early 1-0 lead.

Sodini looked for the equalizer soon after the Millersville goal, but his shots at 6:49 and 8:40 were both saved while a follow-up attempt at 8:42 hit the post.

Slippery Rock's stout defense, which had allowed only two goals all season coming into Saturday's game, returned to form for nearly the rest of the game as Millersville's next five shots and four corner kicks were all successfully defended to help SRU keep its deficit at one goal for the proceeding 70 minutes until Omar Guzman scored off of a cross from Andrei Kin in the 73rd minute to give the Marauders a 2-0 advantage.

Shots by Boyer and Oakley for SRU went wide and high, respectively, in the minutes following Millersville's second goal. Eberly added an insurance goal for Millersville in the 86th minute to close out the 3-0 win.

For the game, Millersville held advantages over SRU in total shots (9-6), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (7-5).

Slippery Rock will look for a rebound-win when it hosts Mercyhurst University 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at James Egli Field.
