LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the second time this week the Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team saw its upset chances fall one-goal short against a nationally ranked opponent when No. 12 Lock Haven held on for an 11-10 victory Sunday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

The Rock sees their season record drop to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in PSAC games with the loss. All five losses on the season have come to teams ranked in the top 20 in this week's Division II national rankings. SRU dropped a 12-11 decision Wednesday to No. 19 Indiana (Pa.) before dropping Sunday's one-goal decision to last year's national runner-up. Lock Haven improves to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in PSAC games with the victory.

The Bald Eagles jumped out to a 7-2 lead at halftime and maintained an 11-4 advantage with 18:53 to play before Slippery Rock mounted a furious comeback. The Rock defense tightened and didn't another goal and the offense poured in six unanswered goals to cut it to 11-10 with 1:13 to play.

SRU got the ball back after
Kaytlin Callaghan's fifth goal of the day made it 11-10 and called timeout with just under 30 seconds to play. Callaghan had one final look at tying the game, but her shot with three seconds left was saved.

Callaghan finished with a team-high six points on five goals and one assist to lead the Slippery Rock attack. The six points bring her career total to 172 points and move her into third all-time in program history, eight point shy of tying Morgan Pettit for second. The five goals bring her career total to 117 and move her into sixth on the goal-scoring career ledger.

Erin Wilcox added two goals and
Caitlynn Palladino chipped in one goal and one assist to round out the multiple point scorers. The two goals for Wilcox moved her into sole possession of fourth on the all-time goal-scoring ledger at SRU with 125.

Chynna Chan and
Danni Wilson each scored one goal to round out the point scorers for SRU.

Jordan Wagner made four saves in goal and picked up a team-high three ground balls.

Lock Haven was led by Shannon Bissnette with seven points on two goals and five assists. Rachel Engler added a hat trick and Dana Laulis scored two goals and handed out one assist. Former SRU goalie Hannah Houde, who transferred to Lock Haven two years ago, earned the win with six saves.

Lock Haven finished the game with advantages of 22-20 in shots and 14-9 in draw controls. The Bald Eagles were 10-of-11 on clear attempts. Slippery Rock managed a 14-13 edge in ground balls and was 11-of-16 on the clear.

The Rock will remain on the road with a 4 p.m. match at Gannon University Tuesday before returning home to host Millersville Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m.
