Box Score (HTML) SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University field hockey team earned its first win of the season on Monday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over American International College at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
The Rock (1-1) scored three unanswered goals to take a lead that the team would never relinquish.
Megan McKay was The Rock's top scorer with one goal and one assist.
Megan Kane,
Alyssa Castle, and
Kailee Krupski all had individual goals for SRU.
Kane put Slippery Rock up 1-0 in the 15th minute with her first goal of the season.
In the second half, Castle scored in the 43rd minute to give The Rock a two-goal lead over the Yellow Jackets.
McKay recorded her second goal of the year in the 53rd minute on a pass from
Hannah Downing to put The Rock up 3-0.
Amanda Dube put American International on the board in the 58th minute with her first points of the season.
Krupski gave The Rock an insurance goal in the 69th minute on a crossing pass into the box from McKay.
Carlee DuMars got her first win of the season in goal for The Rock. She made three saves in the win.
Kayla Mack also had a defensive stop for SRU.
SRU held advantages in overall shots (14-5), as well as penalty corners (14-3).
The Rock will host Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Mansfield on Thursday at 4 p.m.
