MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team increased its winning streak to five games with a dominating 4-0 victory at Mansfield University Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play.

The win improves The Rock's record to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in league matches. Mansfield falls to 2-5 overall and 1-5 in PSAC contests. Slippery Rock's impressive streak of three straight matches with at least four goals is an achievement that hasn't been accomplished by an SRU team since the 2003 season.

Senior midfielder Crysta Ganter and junior forward Dara Demich led Slippery Rock Saturday with one goal and one assist apiece. Ganter's goal was her first of the season while Demich's strike was her seventh of the year. Demich, who has goals in each of The Rock's last four games, now has a team-high 17 points off of seven goals and three assists.

Sophomore midfielder Tess Keeley added her second goal in as many games while freshman forward Taylor Sweeney also scored a goal, the first of her collegiate career. Junior defender Lynn Neef and sophomore midfielder Maddy Tletski rounded out The Rock's scorers Saturday with one assist each.

Freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Elrod racked up her third straight shutout with one save in 90 minutes. Elrod's performance lowered her season goals against average to just 0.62.

After 22 minutes of scoreless play to start the game, Keeley got The Rock on the scoreboard with a goal one second into the 23rd minute when she took a cross from Ganter just in front of the Mansfield goal before finishing her shot. Sweeney sent The Rock into halftime with a two-goal lead with a successful shot from seven yards out off of a cross from Neef at 41:12.

SRU proceeded to add two insurance goals in the second half with scores by Demich in the 67th minute and Ganter in the 75th. Tletski and Demich were credited with assists on the goals, respectively.

For the game, Slippery Rock held an impressive edge over Mansfield in shots (30-7) and corners (11-1). Demich had five shots on goal to lead The Rock.

The victory also improved SRU's record against Mansfield to 9-0 all-time.

Slippery Rock will look to extend its winning streak to six games when it plays at fourth-ranked Gannon University Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.
