SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team earned its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference win of the season in fine fashion with a 4-0 win against Shippensburg University Saturday afternoon at James Egli Field.
The win improves The Rock's record to 2-2 on the year overall and 1-1 in PSAC play. Shippensburg drops to 1-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in league play with the loss.
Andrea Felix continued her hot start to the season with a pair of goals while
Haley Burkholder and
Allison Harbart each posted their first scores of the season.
Caitlin Binder assisted on two of the goals as well. Through four games, Felix has a team-high four goals.

Charlotte Elrod registered her first collegiate shutout after stopping four shots in the victory.
Slippery Rock scored early and often in the first half starting in the 10th minute when Felix perfectly placed a shot from outside the box to the lower left of the goal by Shippensburg goalie Leah Roy to provide SRU with the 1-0 lead. Felix was back at it 17 minutes later when she scored on a breakaway to put The Rock up 2-0.
Burkholder posted The Rock's third goal at 32:50 when she scored on another Binder pass to the lower right side. Harbart finished off the scoring with under two minutes remaining in the first half when she scored off of a free kick from the top of the box.
Slippery Rock ensured that there would be no comeback in the second half by playing great defense and continuing to apply pressure on offense with 10 shots in the second half on the way to the shutout victory.
For the game, Slippery Rock outshot the Red Raiders 25-9 and carried a 6-5 edge in corners. Felix led all players with four shots on goal followed by Burkholder with three and
Maddy Tletski with two.
Casey Rightmyer paced Shippensburg with three shots.
Slippery Rock returns to action Tuesday when it hosts California (Pa.) for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
