Traditional Box Score (HTML)INDIANA, Pa. – The unfortunate theme of the season for the Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team of making a big rally in the second half that comes up short after falling down by a large margin continued Wednesday night and allowed hosting Indiana University (Pa.) to emerge with a 15-11 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

The Rock (4-7, 2-4 PSAC) scored the first goal of the game but Indiana (7-4, 5-1 PSAC) then reeled off six unanswered goals in less than seven minutes to take control of the game. Slippery Rock fought back into it with two goals before halftime to trail 6-3 at the break.

The deciding run in the game came at the start of the second half when the Crimson Hawks poured in four unanswered goals to make it 10-3. Slippery Rock answered with a big push, as it has in the second half all season, and went on a 6-1 run to trail 11-9 with 10 minutes to play. Indiana shut the door after that by scoring the next two goals to put the game out of reach.

This marks the third time in conference action that Slippery Rock has trailed by at least six goals in the second half. In all three games The Rock have stormed back with a big push and come up just short. Slippery Rock has now lost five games by four goals or less this season, including three by one goal.

The Rock finished the game with a 32-29 advantage in total shots. Indiana posted advantages of 20-15 in ground balls and 18-10 in draw controls.

Erin Wilcox led the effort for the Green and White with five goals and three draw controls.
Paige Costantino added two goals and two assists and
Jasey Sanders scored two goals and handed out one assist.
Danni Wilson added one goal off the bench,
Chynna Chan chipped in one goal and
Kaytlin Callaghan added one assist to round out the scorers for SRU.

Jordan Wagner took the loss to drop to 4-7 on the season. She made eight saves and allowed 15 goals.

Indiana was paced by six goals from Kim Hooven and seven points on two goals and five assists from Amy Weinberg.

Angela Lontoc earned the win in goal after recording nine saves and allowing eight goals in the first 48:45. She was replaced for the final 11:15 by Sarah Knotts, who allowed three goals and made one save.

Wednesday's game capped a three-game road swing for Slippery Rock, which will look to get back into the win column when the team returns home to host East Stroudsburg Saturday at 1 p.m. in the annual "Stick it to Cancer" game.
