SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 15-3 defeat to unbeaten and second ranked Lock Haven at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock entered the final game of the season on a five-game winning streak and with a one-game edge on Bloomsburg for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Bloomsburg earned a win at Millersville Saturday to tie SRU for sixth in the final standings, but will receive the playoff berth thanks to a head-to-head win earlier this spring.

Slippery Rock finishes the year with a 9-8 overall record and a 6-6 mark in PSAC action. Lock Haven, ranked second in the latest national rankings, completed the perfect regular season to improve to 16-0 overall and 12-0 in league action.

The Rock honored their five seniors in a pregame ceremony Saturday that served to be the highlight of the day. Lydia Heishman, Jess Verbic, Gigi Sani, Sarah Morris and Paige Costantino were all recognized for their accomplishments.

Morris picked up two ground balls to bring her single-season school record to 59 on the year. She also finishes her career as the all-time leader in ground balls with 164.

Costantino finishes her career ranked fourth in career goals and assists with 123 goals and 46 assists. She ranks third all-time in career scoring with 169 points.

The top highlight on the field belonged to Kaytlin Callaghan, whose second half goal brought her to 71 points on the year, establishing a new single-season school record.

Slippery Rock also got one goal from Heishman and Costantino and an assist from Jasey Sanders to round out the scoring.

Jordan Wagner made 11 saves and allowed 13 goals to finish the year with a 9-8 record.

Lock Haven was paced by Jessica Pandolf with eight goals and one assist. Chrissy Baffuto made nine saves in the win, including six in the first half when the game was close.

Lock Haven finished the game with advantages of 30-16 in shots and 16-4 in draw controls. Slippery Rock managed a 19-16 edge in ground balls, but was whistled for 37 fouls to just 17 calls against Lock Haven.

The Rock will miss their five graduating seniors but will return five of the team's top six scorers and nine players that saw time in the starting lineup this spring.
