GREENSBURG, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost to Seton Hill 3-1 in its season finale Saturday afternoon at the McKenna Center.
Seton Hill got out to a 1-0 lead over The Rock after winning a close first set 25-22. The Griffins cruised to a 25-17 win in the second set to extend its lead to 2-0. The Rock fought back in the third set to get a 25-23 win and cut it to 2-1. In the fourth set, SRU trailed Seton Hill just 19-17, but the hosts outscored The Rock 6-1 down the stretch to win 25-18.
Rookie
Beth Stumpf led The Rock in the loss with a double-double of 19 kills and 17 digs.
Lamija Alisic added 12 kills, while
Kristen C. Smith served up two service aces.
Haley Defibaugh tallied 49 assists for The Rock to bring her career total to 1,072.
Courtney Oberlander recorded a team-high 18 digs and
Brooke Bostwick registered four blocks.
Slippery Rock held a 54-53 advantage in kills over Seton Hill, while the Griffins posted advantages in service aces (7-3), digs (79-71). Both teams put up five blocks apiece.
Slippery Rock ends the season at 10-25 overall and 3-19 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Rock will lose
Kristen Smith,
Anna Mease and
Megan Bush to graduation.
