KUTZTOWN, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost to No. 6 Kutztown, 5-3, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon at Andre Reed Stadium.
SRU falls to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC, while the Golden Bears improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Junior
Megan McKay recorded her second straight three-goal performance to lead The Rock in the loss.
McKay scored for Slippery Rock on a penalty corner just 1:34 into the game on a pass from junior
Michelle Couch, however the Golden Bears scored the next five goals of the game to push past The Rock.
McKay scored twice in 22 seconds late in the second half to complete the hat trick. Sophomore
Haylee Underwood and senior
Courtney Bradshaw were credited with the assists on McKay's scores.
Despite the loss, The Rock held a 25-20 edge in total shots and an 11-6 edge in penalty corners.
Senior goalkeeper
Carlee DuMars was tagged with the loss after recorded six saves for The Rock. Kutztown goalkeeper Kayla Delinger recorded 11 saves in the win for her team.
The Rock continue PSAC action on Wednesday when they host Seton Hill in the Corners for Cancer game at 4 p.m.
