GREENSBURG, Pa. – Seton Hill University scored two goals within a minute early in the second half to defeat the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest.
The loss drops The Rock's record to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in league play. The Griffins improve to 5-9-1 overall and 3-5-0 in the conference with the win.
Slippery Rock also found out today that it was ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region by the NCAA, as the origination released its first set of regional rankings for the 2015 season. Charleston was slotted first in the region followed in the top six by Millersville, Urbana, Notre Dame, Bloomsburg and The Rock. The top four teams in the region at the conclusion of the season will qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Steven Rerick made his second straight start and stopped four shots in 90 minutes. Rerick has made at least four saves in five of his starts this season.
Following a scoreless first half, Seton Hill posted two goals within 61 seconds to start the second half. Tom Urquhart converted the first goal at 51:50 followed by a Curtis Gallagher score at 52:51.
Slippery Rock appeared to cut its deficit in half with a goal off of a free kick in the 75th minute, but instead SRU was ruled offside on the attempt, thus nullifying the goal. SRU was unable to mount any further serious scoring threats over the remainder of the game as Seton Hill escaped with the 2-0 victory.
For the game, Seton Hill held a 16-10 advantage over SRU in shots while The Rock held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Slippery Rock will look to rebound from the loss 5 p.m. Saturday at Lock Haven.
