Brooke Edwards' corner kick in the fifth minute of overtime to give the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory against Clarion University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play Wednesday night at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The victory improves The Rock's record to 3-1-1 overall on the season and 2-1-1 in PSAC competition as well as extending SRU's unbeaten streak to four games. Clarion's record drops to 2-3-0 overall and in league play. Slippery Rock improved its all-time record vs. Clarion to 18-0-2 Wednesday.

Slippery Rock dominated the game throughout the night by holding advantages in total shots 22-3, shots on goal 12-2 and corner kicks 6-1 as well as controlling possession for the majority of the game.

Brosky's goal was her second of the season. She also led all players with four shots on goal. Edwards' assist on the game-winner was the product of a terrific corner kick into Brosky leading to the goal.

Leslie Henny,
Dara Demich,
Caitlin Binder,
Lynn Neef,
Allison Harbart and
Andrea Felix all registering shots on goal as well.

The Rock's defense allowed just three shots on the night and none after the 41
st minute of play. Goalkeeper
Annabelle Hegeman produced her third shutout of the year after stopping two shots on the evening.

SRU wasted little time opening the game as the aggressors by firing off seven shots in the opening 23 minutes of play. Clarion managed to avoid giving up a goal despite play mostly being played in its zone through the first 45 minutes to send the game into halftime scoreless.

The second half featured more near Rock scores. Demich almost put The Rock on the board with 33 minutes to play after making a 40-yard run followed by a shot sailing just wide right of the goal. Three minutes later Binder played a ball into Felix who just missed heading the ball past Clarion goalie Laura Saussol, who grabbed the pass right before it connected with Felix. Â Â

Another close attempt occurred with 21 minutes remaining in regulation when Harbart's shot on target from the top of the box forced Saussol to make a diving stop. Through 90 minutes of play, the score remained 0-0.

Slippery Rock, which received votes in the latest NSCAA top-25 poll, started to secure its third consecutive win by drawing a corner in the 95th minute. Edwards proceeded to play the ball into the box to Brosky who beat a scrum of players in front of the net to drive home the game-winning goal at 94:18.

Saussol stopped 11 saves in the loss for the Golden Eagles. Anna Chamberlin and Kalie Davis recorded Clarion's shots on goal.

Slippery Rock looks to continue its unbeaten streak when it travels to Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
